FACEBOOK Hidden Class Site & Virtual Sketchbook Entry DATES

I have created a FACEBOOK HIDDEN GROUPS site for our class, both SA121 and SA321 together.
The members of the group who can see and share are only our class members.

On Facebook, it is called PAINTING SP2020 CAZ
Each of you will need to join that if you have not already.
You need to friend me first at JEN PEPPER
I, in turn, will invite you to join PAINTING SP2020 CAZ

Why do you need to do this?
We will use this site to upload the following:
  • To upload your Individual Virtual Sketchbooks starting TUESDAY MAR 24
  • To launch extra ideas we would like to share with the group
  • To launch in-progress images of what we're working on
  • To upload our videos
  • To make collective comments in our virtual critiques
  • To simply send us something that will make us smile!
This will be a fun!

Assignment #1
The first assignment you need to complete is to take a photograph of a found painting in your environment, where ever you might be right now.
Upload the image into our FB site
Give details of what it is
Where it is located in your environment
Who made it (if available) and any other comments you want to share

Myself and a few other students have already completed this assignment.
They're great thus far!!
Those of you who have not, need to.

Assignment #2 ongoing to end of the term
Upload 3x a week your Virtual Sketchbooks entries on FB site page
Label each one #25/40, #26/40, etc.
By the end of the term you will have #40 entries

This assignment will commence on TUESDAY MAR 24
By Friday, MAR 27 you should have launched Entry #25, #26 and #27 of 40
Make sure each are marked!!

Mark in your calendars when each trio are due:
MAR 27 = 27 entries of 40
APR 03 = 30
APR 10 = 33
APR 17 = 36
APR 24 = 39
MAY 01 = 40
You are available to do more for extra credit,
but please remember, more is not better if the quality is not thorough!

PROCESS:
1. You will follow the same procedures I asked for in your physical sketchbooks Week 1 through 8.
2. Week 9 (MAR 24) forward you will keep a virtual sketchbook on FACEBOOK to share with the class remotely.
However, the difference here, other than the obvious, you need only answer Question #1 - what sparked your interest about the particular work.
3. Should you wish to include Question #2 how the sculpture relates to the course, by all means, please do for extra credit! Quality not quantity!
4. Make sure you date each entry #24/40, #25/40, etc with the actual date on your entry.
Your colleagues can see your posts on FACEBOOK and we will all be able to comment on them!
5. I am going to join you in this exercise! This way you can see what I am thinking about from the world of art, as well as my ideas for inspiration for my own studio practice.
6. Each student should make 5 comments per week minimum to their colleagues entries (at minimum)
7. And as always, should you have questions about this assignment, ask me sooner rather than later!

The Virtual Sketchbook Rubric has changed very slightly.
Here it is for your information >

NEW COURSE CALENDAR + more

The Nutz & Boltz of it... As I know that each of our lives have taken extremely different shapes following the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am NOT requiring for all of us to come together to follow a lecture or demo at a certain time on a certain day.  But rather, you will have the opportunity to do that at any time following my posting course information on our various sites including this blog,  FaceBook Group,  uploaded videos and lectures.   1.  As a student of SA 121 you need to check into our class blog SP2020CazSA121.blogspot.com between the hours of  9 am and 6 PM on TUE & THU  and to our blog and our FaceBook Group page,  minimum.   Make note of this in your personal calendars. 2.  I will alert you to any new updates to our blog pages through your CAZ email as I post them.  This is your responsibility alone to keep a close eye on your email. 3.  Each Friday morning  I...

Great images to SHARE to remind YOU of something very important!

BLUE SKIES...   oh, yes, indeed! Here are a few captured moments that I want to share with each of you, reminding all of us there are many, many individuals who care about each of us while we  shelter in place. Let's play this gesture forward.  Your job is this:  Make a textual sign of your wishes for others. Go to three interesting locations and take your image message. Send me a jpg at  jpepper@cazenovia.edu You may also use any other type of visual text you wish to include... Thank you one and all!! From Noel Evelyn Madden... From Jess Kane From Tessa Barry

ARTrage Call to Artists to Respond!

THIS IS A  CALL FOR ART   THAT MANY OF YOU SHOULD CONSIDER SUBMITTING YOUR WORK. An artist prepares his graffiti with the inscription  "The Corona Virus Is A Wake Up Call And Our Chance To Build A New And Loving Society" on a wall in the slaughterhouse district in Munich, Germany. Photo: AFP  (Agence France-Presse) Dear ArtRage exhibited artists,  We miss you!  ArtRage has been closed to the public for over a month and we are deeply missing our friends, volunteers and supporters along with the social interactions at gallery openings, lectures, films and other events here at ArtRage. We are reaching out to our community of artists to invite you to share a recent work or project with our ArtRage community.  This tumultuous period of social distancing, isolation, quarantine, cancellations, and closures is having an immense impact on the art community and society at large. As the coronavirus pandemic sweeps the globe, non-essential...
