Her mother was a novelist, and her father was an art critic. While neither of her parents were artists themselves, she was exposed to art frequently by her father and she did have extended family who practiced art and who inspired her to do so on her own. Throughout her younger years and as a student she was very interested in art, and she eventually attended multiple art schools including the Epsom School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art, where she received her BFA degree. She also participated in an exchange program where she studied in New York City. Only one year later, she moved to New York to pursue her career in Painting.
